Inverters can be the most misunderstood and disappointing piece of equipment you will ever buy. There are many questions to answer. How much power do you need? What is the surge requirement? Do you need pure sine wave house quality power or modified sine wave generator quality power? Light weight high frequency, or heavy duty low frequency power? How much battery storage do you need to support the inverter? Is battery maintenance and acid smell and vapor an issue? How about battery mounting and access an issue? Is cabling and circuit protection an issue? Inverters will cost from $1.00 per watt to $20.00 per watt for a proper working tool. Auto part store and home centers offer toy inverters, but rarely work for any commercial application.
